PSoA Certificate of Excellence: Jacques Brédy

Jacques Brédy

Jacques Brédy is a bit of an enigma.  For a person who works in as many mediums as he does, and wins awards in all of those mediums, he has very little internet presence.  In some ways, his work is everywhere, and yet he is nowhere.  Perhaps it is just that he enjoys the mystery and the privacy he has built around himself.

I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting Brédy, but from what I can piece together from the internet, this is what I know of him:  He is of Haitian decent, lives in Newark, NJ, graduated in 1988 from the Art and Design School in NewYork City, works as an illustrator in the fantasy and science fiction field, is a talented sculptor, and is a great vegan cook.  I was able to find one artist statement by him, but it does not say as much about him as does his artwork, which I have included below.  Unfortunately, his website, www.jacquesbredy.com is still under construction.

"The diversity of (my subjects) reflects the multifaceted palette from which I am able to choose." - Jacques Brédy

This guy is the Bo Jackson of the art world, he can do it all. Great work.

Wow. I love this post, especially the intersection of "commercial" and "fine" art. Lovely to see them so seamlessly melding together.
