In fewer than three weeks, the 14th Annual Art of the Portrait Conference is set to commence. This year, the event, sponsored by the Portrait Society of America, returns to Philadelphia, where attendees will not only be able to enjoy the many core events, but also soak up some of the rich art and history of the region. The conference opens with a painting Face-Off at 5PM on May 24th, and finishes on Sunday May 27th with a choice of trips to either the Brandywine River Museum, or a trolley tour with visits to Nelson Shanks' Studio Incamminati, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Last year's conference was the largest known assembly of portrait painters – perhaps this year the record will be broken again!

To celebrate the conference, I will be posting, in no particular order the 30 (that's right – THIRTY) Certificate of Excellence winners, over the next few weeks. Congratulations to all of you!
